General informations (In english)

Congress 2016

This year, the Young Researchers of Imagine will have the following formats:

Oral presentations

Come and show us your work and your speaker capacities!

You will have 10 minutes of presentation (in English only), followed by 3 minutes of questions.

The best presentation will be awarded according to the following criteria: scientific approach, clarity of the presentation, ability to convey a message to non specialists, and answers to questions.

Posters

The poster presentation is evolving!

You will be invited to pitch your poster in 1 minute during one of the two morning sessions of presentation, in order to make people want to meet you during the poster session. For this presentation, you will have access to one slide, with the title of your poster and, if you want, a diagram or an image representing your work.

During lunch break, the scientific committee will come to discuss your work with you: you will briefly present your poster, before answering the numerous questions we will ask you! (1 minute of presentation, 4 minutes of questions).

The pitches, as well as the poster must be in English, but you can choose to have the discussion either in French or in English

The best posters will be awarded according to the following criteria: Scientific approach, clarity of the presentation, ability to convey a message to non specialists, and answers to questions.

Debates (What is it?)

Finally a little action! Come and put your ability to convince to the test!

This is a debate about a general scientific subject, or societal topic.

Two persons will face each other on a predefined topic, but the position you have to defend will only be given at the last moment.

Each one of you will have 4 minutes of speaking time, and the audience will choose the winner!

You will be able to choose whether you want to debate in French or in English during your registration.

Picture contest

Do you remember this beautiful confocal microscopy which only disadvantage is that it doesn’t show anything? Give it a second chance by participating to the best scientific picture contest!

Do you feel like an artist at heart? Did the western blot retouches make you a Photoshop expert? Use your skills to twist a picture that might win the best fun picture contest!

If you want to submit your pictures (one per category maximum), just say so during your registration for the congress! All participants will be able to vote for their favorite picture.

Abstract submission (before April 11th at noon!!!)

During your registration for the congress, you will have the opportunity to apply for participation to the different formats.

For the scientific presentations (Poster or Oral presentation), you will be asked to submit an abstract (in English) of maximum 1500 characters, presenting your work. The abstracts will be evaluated according to the following criteria: Scientific quality and writing.

For the debates, you will submit a short argumentative paragraph of maximum 1500 characters on the following topic: Is positive discrimination a necessary evil? Candidates will be selected according to the following criteria: Quality of the argumentation and writing.

For the picture contest, just say that you want to participate, there is no limit regarding the number of participants!

Additional Information
