The Young Researchers of Imagine Institute (YR2I) association is pleased to announce the 5th edition of the YR2I congress, taking place Thursday 23rd May in the Imagine auditorium (6th floor).

This key event of the year should be a great opportunity for all Imagine workers to gather around science and scientific production of the members of our Institute.

The congress will consist of a variety of poster and presentation sessions, which the scientific committee invites you now to submit an abstract for.  As in previous years, there will also be competitions for the best pitch, best scientific and best funny picture. To encourage master students to submit their work, there will be an additional prize for them.
Submission instructions are outlined below, and please note the deadline for registration is April 2nd.

In addition, we are delighted to announce that our external speaker this year will be Dr. Philippe Charlier, an anthropologist, paleopathologist and the current director of the department of research and teaching at the Musée du Quai Branly.

Registrations are closed.

Oral presentations:
To be considered for an oral presentation, please provide an abstract of your work in a maximum of 2000 characters – including spaces, titles less than 150 characters (again, including spaces), in English. Abstracts will be selected based on both quality of the science and writing. Presentations will be 10 minutes long (also only in English) and followed by 5 minutes of questions.

Posters:
To be considered for a poster presentation, please send an abstract of maximum 2000 characters – including spaces, titles less than 150 characters (again, including spaces), in English.  Again, abstracts will be selected based on both the quality of science and writing.

As in previous years, we will end the morning scientific session with a series of poster pitches! You will present a teaser of your poster in a 1-minute presentation using just one slide (animations allowed). The pitch has to be done in English.

Poster presentations will be made to a jury selected by our scientific committee. You will have 3 minutes to present your work (in English), followed by 2 minutes of questions and discussion with the jury (this can be in English or French). The poster itself must be in English.

Picture competitions:
If you do a lot of microscopy, or can see the inner beauty of Western blots, then this is the category for you!  We have two competitions:

Funny pictures: You can modify the picture to create an amusing scenario.

Scientific pictures: The picture must not be modified, letting the beauty of your original research speak for itself!

You can submit one photo in each category by sending it toassoyrii@gmail.com. Don’t forget to title your submission, indicating this clearly in addition to which category you are submitting your image.  All pictures need to be in image format: either JPEG, TIFF, PNG or GIF. Pictures not in either of these formats, or without a title, will be disqualified.

The congress participants will judge the picture competitions, with the most popular winning!

Note:

  • The scientific committee has the right to refuse any abstract that does not respect the submission rules.
  • You can submit the same abstract for consideration for both oral and poster presentations.
  • Abstracts will not be published online.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
